How it works: a quick refresher
For the adult at the table. These are the rules the worksheet practices, followed by one problem worked from start to finish.
| Strategy | How it works |
|---|---|
| Order does not matter | 7 × 3 = 3 × 7, so learning one fact gives two. |
| Twos are doubles | 2 × 8 is 8 + 8 = 16. |
| Fours double the twos | 4 × 6: 2 × 6 = 12, doubled is 24. |
| Fives end in 0 or 5 | Count by fives, or take half of ten times: 5 × 8 is half of 80, which is 40. |
| Nines finger trick | 9 × n: the tens digit is n − 1 and the two digits add up to 9. 9 × 7 = 63. |
| Break apart a hard fact | 7 × 8 = 7 × 5 + 7 × 3 = 35 + 21 = 56. |
Worked example
Find 6 × 7 by breaking it apart.
- Split 7 into 5 and 2.
- 6 × 5 = 30.
- 6 × 2 = 12.
- 30 + 12 = 42, so 6 × 7 = 42.

Common questions
- Is there an answer key?
- Yes. Every worksheet has a matching answer key with each answer worked on the same grid or layout as the question. The worksheet ID printed at the bottom of each page pairs a sheet with its key.
- What order should we learn the tables in?
- The sections follow a common teaching order: 2, 5 and 10 first, then 3, 4 and 6, then 7, 8 and 9. Move on when a section is accurate and fairly quick.
- Are facts with 0 and 1 included?
- Only as the occasional × 1. They follow a single rule each, so the sheets spend the space on facts that need practice.
- How many different versions are there?
- About a million per skill. Each time you press the button the problems are generated fresh, so you can print a different version for every student, a retake, or another night of practice.
- Are the worksheets free?
- Yes. They are free to print and copy for your home or classroom, with no sign-up.
